The Scrymgeour coat of arms impaling Maitland were engraved circa 1820 over the original engraving, probably initials, within a shield from circa 1725. The Scrymgeour arms consist of a lion rampant holding a broadsword; they are impaling Maitland to commemorate the marriage of Henry Scrymgeious-Wedderburn, 7th Earl of Dundee to Mary Turner Maitland in 1793.
