These portraits of Sir George Oxenden, 5th Baronet (1694-1775), and his wife Elizabeth are fully inscribed.

Sir George, a Member of Parliament for Sandwich, and a Lord of the Admiralty and of the Treasury, came from the most significant of East Kent's ancient families, established in the area in the time of Edward III.
