Design for wallpaper: Vine by William Morris

The 'Vine' wallpaper comes from Morris' very inspired and productive phase of activity in 1871-1876, when some of his finest wallpapers were produced.

This particular design is thought to date from about 1874. The first designs of ten years earlier, like 'Daisy' and 'Trellis', had a formal, linear repeating structure which has been abandoned for the flowing and densely foliated designs of the seventies.
