Jean Claude Nattes’ drawing of the garden at North Mymms Park shows a large telescope pointing to the sky, ready for use.

Behind it, a shed adapted to house the telescope has been rolled back on its wheels. Nattes was a watercolourist, admired for his precise recording of scientific details. His drawing of this unusual garden scene now makes a valuable addition to the Garden Museum’s growing collection of art.

Provenance

Believed to have belonged to the occupants of North Mymms since its creation. Private collection, sold at Sworders Auction House.
