These 11 works of contemporary ceramics and glass by nine Chinese artists have been selected from the 45 pieces on show in ‘Ahead of the Curve: New China from China’, an exhibition that toured museums in Bristol, Cheltenham and Stoke-on-Trent during 2014 and 2015.

Organised by three British curators, its aim was to ighlight the emerging scene in contemporary ceramics and glass in China. Bristol Museum contains the largest holding of Chinese glassware (rather than snuff-bottles) outside China, and these new pieces – of which three are glass, and eight are ceramics – are now set to complement the historic collections in a fresh and invigorating way.
