This small-scale drawing is an example of Richard SmithÂ’s experimentation with visual planes.

The piece is divided in two, with the lower half curving backwards, towards the frame, to create a sculptural form. The artist was born locally in Letchworth Garden City, and this is the first example of a work from an internationally recognised living artist to enter the museumÂ’s collection.
