An exponent of ‘plein air’ realism, Heath was one of the first generation of Newlyn artists.

From the 1920s onwards his use of colour and light led him to be known locally as ‘the sunshine artist’. This painting is typical of the period, and depicts two farmsteads at Boleigh, Lamorna, featuring the artist’s wife and their four children in the foreground.
