This work depicts the Divinity Library of King's College, Aberdeen and is a timely acquisition as a new library is being built at the University.

This watercolour is part of a series on the forgotten great rooms of European architectural heritage, where the histories and treasures can sometimes eclipse the elegance and the beauty of the fine places in which they are housed. The artist has focused on the fine architectural details of the glazed library cupboards and has used reflections in the glass to extend the view around the room. The restricted palette suggests associations with historical illustrations but it also describes the restricted light within the library setting.
