This work was purchased as part of Art Fund Collect at the Craft Council's international fair Collect.

Art Fund Collect was a competitive challenge where shortlisted curators of public collections had just one hour to choose an object for their museum or gallery's permanent collection, ahead of private collectors. The Bilston Craft Gallery in Wolverhampton was among the ten shortlisted institutions and this work was purchased outright by the Art Fund. This dramatic, naturalistic work imitates the formation of lichen and is characteristic of Mori's innovative style. This acquisition is particularly significant because of Wolverhampton's history as a centre for steel manufacturing.
