James Younger, of the famous brewing family, and Annie, daughter of John Thomson Paton of the Paton wool-spinning dynasty, moved into the newly built Arnsbrae House as soon as they were married. The house may have been built as a wedding present for the couple from either the groom's or bride's family, both of whom by then were very wealthy. The candelabra incorporates a very accurate model of Arnsbrae House designed by Alfred Waterhouse.
