The central theme of Madahar's work is the idea of home and a range of related ideas concerning migration and settlement that she finds are paralleled or acted out in the natural world.

Each of these works are part of a series. The image in Falling shows sycamore seeds falling towards the viewer, seemingly without a place of origin or a destination. The idea relates to a dream-like meditation on the nature of memory and the passing of time. The Sustenance series was made while the artist was staying in the US and is rooted in the artistÂ’s identification with the visiting birds. As a visitor to America and a British citizen of second generation Indian descent, Madahar feels a close sense of identification with these migrant creatures.
