This work shows the influence of Simone Martini in Sienese painting which persisted into the 15th century.
The dress is freely ornamented with gold and the Virgin wears a black mantle lined with red over a green head-dress, with a green-edged red robe. The Child wears a purplish-red mantle lined with grey over white.
