Fungi are neither plants nor animals; they rule a Kingdom of their own. They are nature’s great communicators, weaving a vast labyrinth of threads that sustain all living matter. This thought-provoking talk is linked to RAMM’s Living Labyrinths: Art & Fungi (2 October – 21 February 2027), an exhibition which bridges the worlds of art and science, exploring themes of biodiversity, symbiosis, and medical mycology.

Sarah Gurr will take us ‘beyond the canvas’, with insights into how these mysterious organisms impact our daily lives, global food security, climate change and human health.

A world-renowned fungal biologist, Sarah is a Fellow of The Royal Society, Edinburgh, President of The British Mycological Society and Chair of Food Security at the University of Exeter. She is an adviser to RAMM on Living Labyrinths, and a member of Friends of RAMM.
