Meet Esraa Badawy

Esraa Badawy is a ceramicist, architect and graduate of the Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Cairo. An architect and product designer by training, Esraa attended the Jameel House in Cairo from 2022 to 2024, where she specialised in ceramics. For her final-year project at the Jameel House, Esraa crafted a convex ceramic plate, which she refers to as a ‘celestial dome,’ inspired by a 16th-century plate representing the twelve zodiac constellations made in Iran. From the textures of nature, to the geometry of the cosmos, Esraa’s work moulds her natural surroundings into everyday objects that remain rooted in natural, sometimes celestial, beauty. Traditional design principles and techniques continue to influence Esraa’s creations for her own brand, Esraa Badawy Ceramics Studio, which creates unique home décor pieces inspired by nature, culture and Egypt’s rich history.
