Championing the art of cartoons, caricatures and comic art, London’s Cartoon Museum highlights the unique ability of these editorial drawings to reflect culture and society.

Following a major relaunch in 2019, the museum’s charming exhibition spaces are inspired by the language of cartoons and comics. The finest British cartoons, caricatures, and comic art are on display, making the creativity of animation past and present accessible to all.

The collection ranges from 18th-century prints to rare and original artwork on loan from The Beano, The Dandy, and Topper, and the museum supports new work by cartoonists and comics artists working today. The collection includes beautiful works by the likes of Rupert the Bear illustrator Alfred Bestall (1892-1986), political and satirical cartoonist James Gillray (1756-1815), and painter, engraver and satirist William Hogarth (1697-1764).

Why you should go

  • Celebrate the unique art of cartoons

  • See beautiful drawings from the 18th century to the present day
