Under the guidance of Michael Hodges, Trustee of Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust and author of several books including The Urns and Sepulchres of Mortality - Wiltshire Church Monuments the tour will visit three churches in the morning to explore the effigies and monuments. The first visit will be to the grade 1 listed St Peter’s Church Stourton dating back to 1290; followed by a visit to All Saints’ Church Maiden Bradley a large Norman church, rebuilt in the late medieval period. Then on to visit St Peter and St Paul Church in Longbridge Deverill dating back to the early 10 century

After a light lunch the afternoon visit will be to the Chapel of All Saints Wardour designed by James Paine and opened in 1776. In 1790 it was extended by Sir John Soane to include the altar by Giacomo Quarenghi. These places of Christian Worship are all exceptional. Please note own transport is needed for this visit.

This event has been organised by the Wiltshire Fundraising Committee Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
