Conservation at The Bowes Museum and Rokeby Park

Guided Tour | Bowes Museum and Rokeby Park

Thursday 18 May 2017 - 10:00 until 16:30

A dual location event where you can choose either one or both.

A behind-the-scenes look at the conservation work done at The Bowes Museum in the paintings and textiles workshops. Lunch is available in the museum cafe - not included in the price.

Beginning at 2.30pm, a guided tour of nearby Rokeby Park, a neo-Palladian villa owned by the Morritt family. Romantically set in the Tees Valley, the estate inspired Sir Walter Scott, a friend of JBS Morritt, to write his epic poem Rokeby. Some editions were illustrated by another visitor, JMW Turner. There will be an opportunity to visit the gardens.

This event has been organised by the North Yorkshire Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
