The Return of Robert Walpole`s Art Collection
Guided Tour | Houghton Hall
Tuesday 28 May 2013 - 10:30
The magnificent art collection of Great Britain’s first Prime Minister, Sir Robert Walpole, sold to Catherine the Great to adorn the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, will be reassembled in its spectacular original setting of Houghton Hall for the first time in over 200 years. This is an unique visit of the house followed by the tour of the gardens where the Waterflame fountain created by Jeppe Hein is displayed. After lunch visitors will have the chance to enjoy the sculpture park and the rarely-seen light installation by James Turrell.
This event has been organised by a local supporter group to help raise money for the Art Fund.
