Closed since 2008, Leighton House has now re-opened after a £1.6 million programme of refurbishment and restoration based on extensive research into the original interiors created for Frederic, Lord Leighton, eminent Victorian painter and President of the Royal Academy. The spectacular dome in the Arab Hall has been re-gilded; important works of art by Leighton and his contemporaries – many of which have been acquired with the assistance of the Art Fund – are on display throughout the house; and parts of the servants’ quarters are also now accessible. This visit includes an introductory talk by one of the museum’s curators.
