Stories of Harrow celebrates Harrow’s diverse communities, preserving untold stories of migration, heritage and resilience.
What will matter to you, your family, community or future generations in 5…10…or 100 years?
Today, Harrow is home to over 260,000 people and is one of the most diverse areas in the UK. Yet these human stories are often untold or missing from the popular, more established, narrative and they are in danger of being lost. Now, Stories of Harrow celebrates the work of sixteen community organisations who have helped save the heritage of communities in Harrow. Learn more about the experiences of Harrow residents and discover stories of displacement, migration, faith, institutionalisation or entrepreneurship.
Can you spot the symbolism hidden in embroidery or a hairstyle? Do you recognise the courage it takes to wear traditional clothing to work at a time when this was prohibited? Or, have you ever wondered about how, or where, to find spices and ingredients for your favourite recipe? Discover all this and more in Stories of Harrow.
