Folk-inspired print worlds celebrate British everyday rituals and nostalgic leisure culture
Illustrator Louise Lockhart presents her largest solo exhibition to date, drawing on collage, printmaking and rural studio practice. Inspired by the research of Mass Observation, Lockhart’s work reflects ordinary British life through seaside trips, fairgrounds and simple pleasures like lemonade labels.
Cut-paper imagery creates vibrant folk-style scenes that feel familiar yet quietly nostalgic. References to mid-century visual culture and hand-crafted ephemera give the works warmth and texture. The exhibition feels like a visual scrapbook of shared memories, celebrating small rituals, disappearing print traditions, and the beauty found in everyday British leisure culture.
