Listening, memory and migration explored through immersive sound and film
John Akomfrah invites visitors into a meditative world where sound and image intertwine. Multi-screen installations explore memory, migration, racial injustice and climate change, emphasising the power of listening as a form of activism. The works transform gallery spaces, engaging with colonial histories and the unseen traces of the past.
Open-ended and non-linear, the exhibition layers time, geography and personal experience to create poetic, thought-provoking narratives. Visitors encounter a manifesto of acoustemology, where art shapes history and perception, offering fresh ways to understand identity, belonging and the world around us.
