Love & Landscape presents the most comprehensive showcase of Stanley Spencer in a decade, exploring his deep connection with the Suffolk landscape alongside his complex personal life.

With work that blends unconventional Christian faith with intimate reflections on family, love and place, Spencer is celebrated for his visionary paintings, including biblical scenes set in his native Cookham. Bringing together over 20 works from the Stanley Spencer Gallery with major loans from other museums, the exhibition traces Spencer’s formative experiences in Suffolk, reflecting on his turbulent personal life to show how these experiences informed his imaginative and sometimes controversial works.
