Experience the first European institutional show for this contemporary Palestinian-Saudi artist.
Standing by the Ruins is the first European institutional solo exhibition by Dana Awartani. Gathering together existing works alongside a major new commission, the show is a deeply moving exploration of remembrance, healing and loss.
Awartani – born in Jeddah to a Palestinian family – works across installation, painting, textiles and film to address the erasure of cultural heritage. At the heart of the exhibition is Standing by the Ruins III (2025), an expansive floor-based installation that recreates the geometric floor design of Hamam al-Sammara, one of Gaza’s oldest bathhouses.
