Gothic Suppers

27 - 31 October 2025
7-9.30pm
£50

This Halloween season, enjoy a three-course Gothic supper in the atmospheric old kitchen, followed by a fire-lit ghost story.

Step back in time for an unforgettable night of Gothic gastronomy and Sinister Stories

Sit down to a decadent three-course meal, inspired by Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey, served in the shadowy corners of our historic kitchen. Feel the weight of centuries pressing in as the House waits for you to uncover its secrets. As the candles burn lower and the night deepens, gather around the crackling fire in the Great Hall for a dramatic finale.

The Menu: A Night at Northanger Abbey

"Catherine's First Fright"

Roast Tomato, Black Bean & Garlic Soup

"Henry's Castle Casserole"

Braised Beef in rich Red Wine Gravy or Braised Root Vegetable Casserole (V) , served with Spiced Red Cabbage & Garlicky Dauphinois Potatoes

"General Tilney's Guilty Pleasure"

Vanilla Cheesecake drizzled with Raspberry Sauce

After Supper

On 27 October, Sasha Dean will bring to life chilling excerpts from Jane Austen’s beloved ‘horrid novels’ and the works of Ann Radcliffe, Mary Shelley, and others – tales designed to delight and disturb in equal measure.

On 31 October, lose yourself in a chilling, specially-created ghost story, The Story of Alice Barton, written and performed by Nigel Worsfold – a spine-tingling of witchcraft in 17th-century Hampshire that will curdle your blood and quicken the beatings of your heart!

Tickets: £50pp including a welcome drink on arrival. Wine and soft drinks available to purchase separately. Arrival from 6.45pm.
