Discover the story behind the creation of the Healing words exhibition direct from the curator Pamela Forde.

Discover the story behind the creation of the Healing words exhibition direct from the curator Pamela Forde. Featuring unseen materials and exciting new additions to the archives, join our final Healing words Museum Late.

The Healing words exhibition explores the unofficial story of medical practice in England from 1500-1800 through our fascinating collection of handwritten recipe books. To create this exhibition, we delved into the stories of the people, medical theories and societal influences that shaped these texts.

At this Museum Late you can take a last look at the exhibition – closing on 25 July – and join curator of the exhibition and archive manager Pamela for an exclusive talk. Taking a look behind the scenes discover materials that couldn’t be displayed including an original volume of Elizabeth Blackwell curious herbal, research materials and two new recipe books donated as a result of the exhibition.
