the once-a-year unique experience of a descent into our historic Victorian ice wells, with your museum guide
Descend into the historic Victorian ice wells, with your museum guide
Discover the story of how ice was cut in Norway and sent by sailing ship to London’s Limehouse Docks, and onward by canal to the 1860s ice warehouse, now home to the London Canal Museum.
Featuring a guided building tour by our engineering historian, plus an illustrated talk on the ice trade and the building’s original owner the incredible entrepreneur Carlo Gatti, from our expert volunteers.
Also see (and taste!) the pre-refrigeration ice cream method developed by another ice vanguard of the Victorian age, Mrs Marshall.
Boat Trips through Islington Tunnel also running all day, hourly 11.00 - 17.00
