World-renowned contemporary art gallery and landmark of Brutalist architecture set on the south bank of the Thames.
Founded in 1968, the Hayward Gallery is an independent, pioneering and influential force in the visual arts both nationally and internationally.
Located within one of the finest examples of Brutalist architecture, it has become known for its programme of groundbreaking contemporary exhibitions. Its shows have an enquiring and critical edge, spanning history, cultures, artistic disciplines and media.
In January 2018 it re-opened to the public after three years of major refurbishment.
The Hayward Gallery was one of the finalists for Art Fund Museum of the Year 2014.
Permanent collection
The Hayward does not display a permanent collection, instead hosting a selection of rotating contemporary art exhibitions throughout the year.
