Journey through some of the most significant moments of music, art and recent cultural history through this love letter to the art of the album cover.

From Grace Jones’ Island Life to The Rolling Stones’ Exile on Main Street, the exhibition celebrates the unique art of the album cover, exploring how photography has shaped artists in front of and behind the camera. Some of the most iconic album covers of our time will be on display, such as Lovesexy by Prince and Physical Graffiti, Swan Song by Led Zeppelin, plus works from lesser-known artists that had a major impact on music and photography.

Explore how the careers of photographic visionaries such as Andy Warhol, Cindy Sherman, David Bailey, Helen Levitt and Joseph Beuys were launched and thrived around working on album covers, and explore the significance of visual iconography adopted by various musical genres.

See some of the most revolutionary album cover art of our time from over 200 records and explore the central role photography plays in defining artists and bands.
