Presenting the collection of Muriel Wilson, a key figure in collecting and promoting 20th century British art.

Curator and collector Muriel Wilson helped to introduce British art to the world during the 20th century. Discover works from her collection by artists such as Peter Blake, David Hockney and Eduardo Paolozzi, left to the Gallery upon her death. Her impressive collection also brings together the collections of other female collectors, including the criminal psychologist, Elizabeth Burney, celebrating the influence previously overlooked of women curators and collectors.

An important figure in 20th century art, Wilson helped to organise early shows of artists such as Eduardo Paolozzi and Nigel Henderson, helping to place both artists firmly on the art world map. The pieces featured chart her commitment to celebrating artists and their work, as well as bringing the work of international artists to British audiences.
