This exhibition has now closed, find out what else is going on at Gainsborough's House

A private collection goes on public display for the first time, showing major paintings from the golden age of British painting.

Thomas Gainsborough, an artist who was important in building the British school of painting, is featured at his very best in paint and pencil, and it is particularly relevant that the exhibition is to be held at Gainsborough’s House.

Highlights include Gainsborough's Wooded Landscape with Figures, Cottage and a Pool, John Constable's Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadows, JMW Turner's Bolton Abbey, and Sir Thomas Lawrence's Elizabeth, Duchess of Devonshire.
