The artist's Art Happens commission forms the centrepiece of her first solo exhibition in the UK.

In 1910, the French artist Adolphe Valette sat in a corner of Albert Square, the city he had made his home, and captured the scene in an intimate, characterful painting that felt more like a portrait than a landscape.

Following a successful campaign on the Art Fund's crowdfunding platform Art Happens, Manchester Art Gallery has commissioned artist Emily Allchurch to recreate Valette's scene as a collage of contemporary photographs of the city.
