Little Harle, its Tower & private art collection, Kirkharle church, and Capability Brown landscape

Talk and Tour | Little Harle Tower

Wednesday 10 June 2015 - 10:00

Little Harle Tower is a hidden gem among Northumbrian country houses. It is based upon a 15th century pele tower and contains an impressive art collection including some rare landscapes by J. W. Carmichael, as well as some of his more characteristic marine studies.

The day begins with a talk and guided tour of the house and works of art, followed by an opportunity to visit the 14th century church of St Wilfrid at nearby Kirkharle. Lunch is available at Kirkharle courtyard, and afterwards stroll around the craft shops and the lake that was the vision of Lancelot 'Capability' Brown, before driving on a short distance for an invitation to afternoon tea by the Pearson family at their home Cliffside, Kirkwhelpington.

This event has been organised by the Northumberland Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
