Guided Tour | St Michael and All Angels Church
Tuesday 2 July 2013 - 10:30 until 12:30
John Scott, descended from the great Victorian architect Sir George Gilbert Scott, offers us an insight into Bedford Park, built in the 1870s as an enclave for artists and aesthetes by leading architects of the time (including Norman Shaw). A radical departure from the norms of late Victorian developments, Bedford Park provided architectural inspiration for the Garden City and Garden Suburb movements, which became increasingly important during the early years of the 20th century. John Scott gives us an introduction to the history of Bedford Park and the extraordinary community it created.
