Photography as Fine Art

| The Menuhin Hall

Thursday 29 March 2012 - 10:30 until 12:00

a lecture by Brian Stater

This lecture addresses the question of whether we should regard the best photographs as fine art. Given that the Art Fund has funded the purchase of many photographs, the answer would seem to be yes.

Can photography equal the more traditional disciplines of portraiture, landscape and still life? Brian Stater will consider the works of Henri Cartier-Bresson, Andreas Gurski, Fay Godwin, Ansel Adams among many others.

The lecture will be followed by a glass of wine.
