Churchill War Rooms
With a National Art Pass you get
The museum comprises the historic Cabinet War Rooms and the biographical Churchill Museum.
This underground complex housed a British government command centre throughout the Second World War. It was from here that the War Cabinet met, plotted, planned and strategised, sometimes late into the night and it was also used by Churchill and his staff as a shelter during the blitz.
A particular highlight is the map room, where the books and charts have remained exactly where they were left on the day the lights were switched off in 1945.
Meanwhile, the Churchill Museum explores the life of British statesman, looking at the influences and challenges that shaped his life and work.
Look out for The Wild Escape at museums and galleries in the next few months. Many have special events, or you can use our audio introduction to help children get involved at any cultural venue.
