Bolling Hall
Bolling Hall is an historic house in Bradford, with a museum and a 'Ghost Room' for those brave enough to go in!
With some parts dating back to the Middle Ages, Bolling Hall is one of the oldest buildings in Bradford. The hall was home to two important landowning families, the Bollings and the Tempests, for many years. Today, it functions as a museum and education centre focussing on the city's rich heritage.
A house through time
The house is a fascinating mixture of architectural styles, reflecting its long history. Explore rooms decorated and furnished to represent different periods, giving you a sense of what life was like for the families who lived there. Keep an eye out for the Chippendale bed, a prized piece of furniture originally made for Harewood House.
English Civil War
Bolling Hall's collection related to the English Civil War reflects how the house itself played a role in the conflict, serving as a stronghold for the Royalist cause during the siege of Bradford.
Haunting tale
Legend has it that the hall is haunted by the ‘White Lady’. As you wander through the house, keep an ear out for any unexplained noises or sightings of a spectral figure in white.
Although there are no refreshments on site at Bolling Hall, the Lodge Cafe is located just a short walk away in Bowling Park, where you can relax, or sit and plan further explorations of nearby cultural offerings such as Cartwright Hall or the National Science and Media Museum.
