An exhibition of dye-transfer prints celebrating five decades of influence by an American pioneer of colour photography.
The Photographers' Gallery marks the 50th anniversary of William Eggleston’s Guide (1976), the publication and accompanying MoMA exhibition that challenged conventional ideas about art photography.
Born in Memphis, USA, Eggleston is recognised for his role in gaining acceptance for colour photography within the contemporary art world. This presentation brings together both familiar and lesser-known images from his 60-year career, utilising the vibrant dye-transfer printing process that defines his early work.
