The Craft Leeds gallery has proudly supported early-career craft and design makers since opening in 1982 - now in our 44th year, we are proud to showcase a solo exhibition of beautifully skilled woodturning by recent BA (Hons) graduate, Hannah Stewart.

Graduating in 2025 from the Contemporary Design Crafts course at Hereford College of Arts, Hannah developed her debut collection ‘Turning Connections’ under the name Stewart.h.designs. The collection is a contemporary twist on functional homeware, featuring bespoke shapes informed by the woodturning process, and intricate linework and pattern created through the clever use of inlaid wood veneers.

Whilst exhibiting at the prestigious Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair in October last year, Hannah was selected by the Craft Leeds team to receive our Spotlight Exhibitor Award. The team were drawn to her ethical use of reclaimed materials and stylish contemporary take on traditional woodturning and marquetry techniques - we are now excited to showcase Hannah’s talent here at the gallery, at the very start of her promising career.
