Jonathan Baldock: Held

27 June - 26 September 2026

Enter a surreal world of folklore, craft and imaginative sculptural landscapes

Colour, texture and storytelling collide in Jonathan Baldock’s immersive Arnolfini installation, transforming the gallery into a vivid wilderness of nature, folklore and personal memory. Combining ceramics, textiles and sound, Baldock creates playful yet provocative environments shaped by traditional craft and generations of making.

A monumental wild bear sculpture sits at the heart of Held, inviting visitors to consider ideas of care, connection and the body. Filled with intricate tapestries, symbolic imagery and unexpected details, the work explores family, identity, history and the relationship between the familiar and the strange.
