Tracing the storied life of Gladys Hynes, a pacifist, suffragist and Irish Republican.
Radical Lives is the first major exhibition devoted to Gladys Hynes, a pioneering artist whose avant-garde practice was inseparable from her radical politics. Spanning painting, sculpture, illustration and design, the exhibition traces Hynes’s journey through the Newlyn School, Omega Workshops and Vorticism.
As a pacifist, suffragist and Irish Republican, Hynes continually reinvented her work in response to a changing world. By examining her multifaceted legacy, the show addresses enduring questions of identity and creative commitment, asserting the relevance of her intersectional activism within the contemporary landscape.
