The biggest exhibition ever of works by the rebel painter of the British art world.
The Royal Academy of Arts hosts the largest display of Rose Wylie’s work to date, bringing together her most iconic paintings alongside new and previously unseen pieces. Starting her painting career in her 50s, Wylie quickly became a defining figure in British art, celebrated for her distinctive style and vibrant, often humorous approach to storytelling.
Wylie’s bold, playful canvases feature a cast of characters from Elizabeth I and Marilyn Monroe to Serena Williams and Snow White and are rich with references to cinema, literature, history and contemporary culture, intertwined with her own life experiences, such as living through the Blitz as a young girl.
