How the French Riviera captured the imagination of 20th century artists.
From Monet and Picasso to Matisse, Klein and Bonnard, the exhibition traces the impact of the region on Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and Modernist painters, revealing how its idyllic countryside inspired creativity for artists based in industrial cities.
Featuring more than 120 works, including paintings, sculpture, travel posters and film, the exhibition examines the Riviera as both a hub of artistic innovation and a symbol of mid-century glamour. It traces the footsteps of artists from Nice to Saint-Tropez, L’Estaque to Cagnes-sur-Mer, discovering how the region shaped modern art and culture.
