Fifty years of a fashion collection reborn, from historic treasures to contemporary design.
Marking five decades since a devastating fire, this major exhibition celebrates the resilience of the Ulster Museum’s fashion collection. Visitors can explore garments from the eighteenth century to today, including Chanel, Versace, Alexander McQueen and Irish designers JW Anderson and Paul Costelloe.
Rarely seen pieces feature prominently, notably the Lennox Quilt, the sole survivor of the 1976 fire. New acquisitions, such as items from the Lanto Synge Needlework Collection, symbolically restore what was lost, while historic and contemporary designs sit side by side, tracing the evolution of style and the enduring artistry of fashion.
