Unsilenced: Sexual Violence in Conflict aims to empower survivors, inform visitors, and contribute towards meaningful change.
★★★★★ "Devastating, sensitive and ultimately hopeful, Britain’s first major exhibition about sexual violence in conflict demands to be seen" The Telegraph
Throughout the history of war, sexual violence has been perpetrated on a mass scale. It is built in to stories of invasion and wartime suffering from the First World War, through the Second World War and into the present day.
“Wherever conflict erupts, sexual violence is present.” Sara Bowcutt, Women for Women International.
This exhibition includes cases of rape, sexual humiliation, torture and child abuse in conflict. IWM advises that this exhibition is only suitable for those aged 16 or over.
