Tunnel Book Art Workshop

2 October 2026
10am to 4pm
£95

Create a design and 3D book scene inspired by the 'House of Stories' exhibition at Chatsworth.

Learn how to create a 3D scene using drawing and paper cutting techniques.

Tunnel books date back to the mid-18th century, and are a series of cut-paper panels placed one behind the other, creating the illusion of depth and perspective. Make your own woodland, a faraway land, or any scene you wish. The scenes can be colourful and action-packed, or simple and white. Using scalpels, scissors, glue, paper and pencils you will design your scene section by section to create a tunnel book.

Be inspired by your favourite novel or book and create a one-off artwork. All materials are provided and you will be taught how to construct a tunnel book structure and how to create imagery throughout the pages using drawing and paper cutting techniques.
