Visit Doddington for a guided walk on the wilder side!

You will explore the rapidly changing landscape and see the nature that is returning to Wilder Doddington. This is a chance to leave the public footpaths with a member of the Wilder Team for a relaxed exploration, walking 2-4 km.

You will marvel at the mosaic of habitats being created by the roaming rare breed cattle, wild Exmoor ponies and curly coated pigs. You may catch sight of a deer, hare or slow worm or two. You will walk into the woodland to see the value of open glades, standing dead wood and other features rarely seen, explaining their value to beetles, butterflies, birds and bats.

You will be able to discuss the processes involved in rewilding, species reintroduction and learn about the exciting projects ahead such as the stage zero rewetting ‘Wetter Better’ plans.

Depending on the weather and on the location of the keystone animals you may head out by minibus to one or more parts of the estate to walk from there.

• All guests must be over 16yrs. 16-18 year olds must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

• No dogs permitted – Much of the wildlife enjoys their entire life on the ground and dogs may disturb what you hope to see.

• Ample free parking is available at Doddington – please see map that also shows EV charging locations.

• Whatever the weather you will take a walk with several stops. The minibus may be use to reach more remote parts of the Wilding.

• Regrettably, the surfaces are incredibly uneven so cannot cater for wheelchairs.

• Please dress appropriately for the weather and ground conditions. Long trousers and long sleeves along with suitable footwear are a requirement for a comfortable visit. Bring waterproofs if wet or cold.
