A Bonhams Gallery Conversation w/ Kate Flitcroft: Cohead of Jewellery at Bonhams UK, gemologist, BBC Antiques Roadshow expert

From the fiery depths that create rubies to the lush green landscapes that yield emeralds and the storied sapphire mines of the world, the talk explores the remarkable journey of the most celebrated gemstones. Discover where these treasures are found, how they are enhanced and refined, and what gives them their extraordinary beauty and lasting value.

Blending gemmology and jewellery history, Kate Flitcroft reveals why rubies, sapphires and emeralds have captivated civilisations for centuries, and continue to enchant us today.

Crowned in Colour, presented during RAMM’s Colour exhibition, offers a dazzling exploration of how nature produces its most vivid hues – and why colour lies at the very heart of these extraordinary gems.

Kate Flitcroft FGA is a regular expert on BBC’s Antiques Roadshow; Bonhams Co-Head of UK Jewellery and Business Development Director for Jewellery. As an auctioneer, she has helped to raise some £3 million for non-profit organisations through charity auctions. A board member of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain, she was awarded the Anderson Medal for gemmology in 2016.
