Take a look at fabulous Lancashire fashions in the age of Jane Austen.
Regency fashion immediately makes us think of Jane Austen's heroines from Pride and Prejudice or Sense and Sensibility. High fashion influenced by French styles may have been big in London but what about women in Lancashire? How did they follow the latest trends? What did the great and the good of Lancashire's fashionable ladies wear? In this new talk, curator Scott Schiavone looks at Regency women's fashions through Lancashire's Hulton family, an important regional family throughout the Georgian and Victorian period, including the white cotton dress that is on display in the Style and Sensibility exhibition at Judges Lodgings, on loan from The Harris.
£5 per ticket, includes admission to the museum and a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit. Booking required. To book, please go to the events page of the website.
We run a popular lecture programme and regularly repeat lectures if there is demand. If this event is sold out, please add your name to the waiting list and we will be in touch if the lecture is run again.
