Talk

Language, Media, and the Feminine Body in Ketty La Rocca’s multidisciplinary work

18 September 2025
15:00
Free to all

This informal talk situates La Rocca’s life and practice within the broader contexts of gender studies and critical theory.

During her brief career, Ketty La Rocca (1938–1976) worked across a number of disciplines and media including drawing, photography, sculpture, poetry and performance. Witty and provocative, her art speaks to our own times through its concern with issues such as gender politics and its investigation of the influence of advertising on our daily lives.

This informal talk will situate La Rocca’s compelling life and practice within the broader contexts of gender studies and critical theory. It will also explore how narratives of the body and nature continue to evolve within contemporary art and intersect with today’s social movements.

This event is part of Art History Festival 2025 organised by the Association for Art History.
